The Story
The Festival has an exciting line-up of the best in Latin: Film, Food, Music & Dance headlined by the renown, Tito Rodriguez Orchestra with Tito Rodriguez Jr., Rivera, the staff, and performers are all donating their time and talent to this cause because this community of children, parents, and educators deserve a permanent building where they can teach and learn. The SCJH Latin Festival will also benefit many local charities . . . The Boys & Girls Club of Indian River County, The Sheriffs Youth Ranch, The Gifford Youth Activity Center, the Pelican Island Audubon Society, and the Substance Awareness Council of I.R.C.
A 12 hour festival will take you on a magical journey through Latin music, culture, and dance. The day kicks off at 11am with a screening of the documentary film, La Epoca. A Latin dance lesson will follow at the fair grounds on the 50 by 50 foot dance floor; specially designed for the event's many dance performances.
We'll travel through Peru's folkloric sights and sounds with Ritmos Peru and Incas Wasi. Then, the Charter High School Mambo Dance team takes the floor choreographed in the legendary Cuban Pete method by Mambo master dancer, Barbara Craddock. Enjoy the smooth ride when The South Wind Jazz Ensemble takes the stage, followed by another spectacular dance performance by local instructor, Joe Tessier.
Adlan Cruz, a world-class concert pianist from Puerto Rico, will perform in the center of the dance floor. After, Iba A Se featuring Danny Rivera Jr. will perform on the main stage. Then, enjoy the dance exhibition of the electric couple, Stacey & Lucy Lopez. And last but certainly not least; the Tito Rodriguez Orchestra led by Tito Rodriguez, Jr. will perform under the stars as the dance floor opens to the audience for two hours.
